A dazzling seed pot handcrafted by Hopi potter Sylvia Naha (1951-1991) showcasing a black and white Awatovi Star design. This geometric design was recreated from shards found at the Awatovi ruins. It consists of a five pointed star surrounded by cloud designs. Sylvia know for her intricate fine line and traditional design work carried on the traditions of her well known family, She was the daughter of noted potter Helen Naha also known as Frogwoman and granddaughter of the original Frogwoman Paqua Naha.


Hopi-Tewa pottery originated from the village of Hano on First Mesa, in Hopi Pueblo from Tewa descendants that fled to Hopi during the Pueblo Revolt. Known for yellow, orange or cream finishes with traditional designs painted with natural pigments, these pieces are hand constructed using coil and scrape techniques. A perfect addition to any pottery collection.

Jar measures 5-7/8" long and wide, stands 3-1/4" tall. Comes with a certificate off authenticity.
