Joel Pajarito SS Reversable Corn Maiden Pendant (ancestors positive Inez Design, Kiva Steps)
This sterling silver reversible corn maiden pendant handcrafted by Santo Domingo artist Joel Pajarito was created through the traditional tufa casting method and is a stunning example of Pajarito's skill and rich family history.
Only one object is extracted from each Tufa mold, making every piece truly unique. The pendant features a kiva step design, with turquoise and labradorite stone elements to the front and back of piece.
In Pueblo culture the Corn Maiden is a powerful figure who brought the Pueblo people the gift of corn. Because of the importance of her gift and the role corn plays in sustaining the Pueblo people, she is seen as a symbol of life in Pueblo art. She also represents strength, creation and wisdom and is often depicted wearing a traditional tablita headdress or carrying a vase of water.
Pendant measures 3-7/8" long and 1-1/*8" wide with bail that can accommodate necklaces up to 1/4" wide.
