Mike Coble Picasso Marble Owl Fetish Carving

This beautiful carving was created by Zuni Pueblo artist Mike Coble using Fish rock serpentine. With its sandy hues and mottled accents, the perching owl has a watchful gaze with its piercing turquoise blue eyes.

In Zuni culture, the owl is "the Night Grandfather" because he does his work at night. Clairvoyant properties and uncovering deception have always been associated with Owl. Its connection with wisdom comes from Owl's ability to discern that which cannot be seen.
