Early Native American cultures valued astronomy and it served an important role, as the basis for governance, agricultural practices and more. In Hopi culture, the modern era is referred to as the "Fourth World". This powerful image created by Hopi artist Dalton James depicts a stylized planet image decorated with ancient pottery designs representing the earth as home in a 8" x10" double-matted print.
Dalton James is a self-taught artist from Hopi Pueblo, and is a member of the Tobacco Clan from the village of Hotevilla in northeastern Arizona.
