“Yei” (pronounced “yay”) is the Navajo name for the benevolent supernatural beings who bring their healing power to medicinal ceremonies still performed today. The Yei-bi-chai rug portrays a line of dancers, usually shown from the side and often with one foot raised as though in a synchronized dancing motion.
This small rug woven by Navajo artist Gwen Saganey, features a contrasting color scheme and and a elegant layout and showcases the skill of the artists weaving abilities. This is a great starter piece or a accent piece for a collector.
