This polychrome bowl handcrafted by renowned Isleta Pueblo artist Stella Teller, features two exquisitely formed white bear figurines perched over an earth toned rim with delicate turquoise beads around their necks. A round turquoise center surrounded by symmetrical traditional designs.
Stella Teller began working in clay at the age of eight, helping her mother to slip and polish small pots. As the granddaughter of famous Isleta potter Emilia Carpio (who had demonstrated pottery making at the St. Louis World Fair in 1904), Stella assumed her position in a long line of master Isleta potters. It is said that she is one of America’s most collected Native potters. Her pieces are part of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian as well as representation in museums and galleries nationwide. Her daughters Robin, Christine, Ramona, and Lynette are also well known potters
