Everett Fragua
Everett Fragua
Everett Fragua is a highly regarded drum-maker from Jemez Pueblo. He handcrafts drums in traditional Pueblo and northern styles from cottonwood and hand-cured hides.
Everett learned drum-making back in elementary school from his grandfather, Juan Fragua. Together they made drums in different styles and sizes, and would sing a song together on them when the drums were finished.
The teachings of his grandfather are what have guided his drum-making, and inspired him to keep sharing his traditional craft with the world. “Without Grandpa Fragua, I wouldn't be showing my work today and sharing his tradition.”
